about

A Guitar Takes a Trip to the Future

"Jan Reimer is without doubt a master of abduction into the realm of senses. His sound magic on the guitar lets the listener discover his long lost imagination." (Berlin Tagesspiegel)

Electronic Guitar Percussion

"I believe it was I who invented the EGP. It basically consists of an acoustic guitar resting on a modified tripod on which a sound pick-up system has been installed. I then beat the body of the guitar with my hands, as with a percussion instrument. I have been involved in playing the congas for some time and was able to make use of quite a few things from this experience." (Jan Reimer)

Don't worry, Jan Reimer doesn't pound on his guitar. Still, his EGP is a highly extraordinary and unique way of making music with a guitar. The guitar is at times coarsly strummed, at times carefully picked or almost tenderly caressed, occasionally also used as a percussion instrument.
